Information & Broadcasting officials found coming late to office

Taking a cue from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s advice to inculcate discipline and punctuality amongst officials, Information and Broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar on Monday made surprise round of his ministry to check punctuality and asked missing and late coming officials to put in application for causal leave. The minister also took several officials for task for lacking in punctuality.
Sources said the minister arrived at the Shastri Bhawan office of I&B ministry around 9.05 a.m. and went on a round to check on late arriving officials. It is understood that the minister expressed his displeasure at fining many officials missing officials and instructed his staff to ask these missing and late comers to put in their request for casual leave.
The minister also instructed officials to be punctual and avoid getting late for office as it hurt the productivity and functioning of government, sources stated. The minister reportedly expressed his displeasure at finding several sections in the ministry to be empty.
“It was found that many persons had not reached office even by 10 am and the minister pulled up those,” sources said. From now on all I&B ministry officials have been told to report to office on time.
