Modi government launches 'attendance.gov.in' to keep tab on staff: Reports

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched an official website to track attendance of officials in the Central government, reports stated on Tuesday.

According to official sources, the URL of this website is: http://attendance.gov.in

The attendance system is now up and running and helps track the number of registered organisations and employees, as per the sources.

The information which can be found on the website are – attendance, over time, the number of registered employees, number of employees present etc.

One can also find the number of active devices and further breakdown of the information, sources added.

PM Modi had earlier asked for an exhaustive Central database of all Central and state government employees. The database, which contains phone numbers and email addresses of all employees, was first used on Independence Day when Modi’s speech was directly sent to the employees by mail and messages.

Now, it may be said that life for government employees will become a little harder under the Narendra Modi government as they're expected to clock in on time, stay late when needed and even give up holidays.

Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth had also asked Secretaries of all central departments to intensify the crackdown on government employees who are found to be “habitually late” in reaching office.

Seth, in his July 31 missive, had specifically cited concerns expressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regard.

According to an English daily, two Secretary level officers have said that a Joint Secretary level officer has been informally deputed in each ministry to keep a check on the attendance.
