Infosys, TCS, Sify, RCom to service Indian Postal Dept.


According to  a latest report, the Department of Post (DoP) has issued Letters of Intent (LoIs) to major tech firms including  Infosys, TCS, Sify and Reliance Communications Infrastructure for different technology advancement projects. 
Manjula Parasher , Secretary (Posts) stated, the post department is trying to integrate technology in a big way. 
She further added, the department will computerize all its 1.55 lakh post offices across country by next year and over 24,000 department post offices by month end.
Sources informed, there were eight RFPs (Request for Proposal) that the committee had floated. With the latest update the DoP has issued Letters of Intent in five (projects) to companies including Infosys, TCS, Sify and Reliance. 
According to latest chunk of information, DoP has issued LoI for two projects which are Rural System and Financial Services Integration to Infosys and one to Tata Consultancy Services for Change Management. Besides these DoP has also issued letters to Sify for Network Integration and Reliance Communications Infrastructure for Data Centre. 
To the reader’s surprise, the Department has got approval of Rs 1,877.2 crore to be spent across these projects over period of two years. But, they can ask for additional funds when the need arises.
