World's smallest stamp on display

The world’s smallest stamp with 1.4 cm by 1.4 cm size, issued by Brazil in 1989, the first Indian post card issued by the East India Company in the year 1879 and a rare stamp of the USSR before the disintegration are some of the collections which were on display, at the Philately expo at the Head post office on Officers Line. The expo was  organized by the Department of Posts on Friday. The stamps belong to the collection of noted local philatelist Tamilvanan.
A collection of stamps on the theme, ‘Flora and Fauna’ from 40 countries were also on display at the expo. The expo, aiming at creating awareness among school and college students besides the public, was inaugurated by the senior superintendent of postal services A Saravanan on Friday. Senior postmaster, Vellore head post office, A Durai said the expo was part of the postal week celebrations.
