Divisional Union writes to the SSPOs, Bhubaneswar on embarrassing advertisement of ladies sanitary napkins on the backside of MPCM sticker

To
The Senior Superintendent of Post Offices
Bhubaneswar Division, Bhubaneswar – 751 009

No. UN/BN–AIPEU/Gr.-C/01-08/2014,        Dated at Bhubaneswar the 7th August, 2014

Sub : Embarrassing advertisement of ladies sanitary napkins on the backside of MPCM sticker.

Sir,
The MPCM Stickers now being used in different post offices of Bhubaneswar Division carry advertisements of ladies sanitary napkins ( absorin Finette Mini Plus REF 6210) on the backside of the gum paper and thus putting the lady Counter P As especially on MPCMs  into an embarrassing condition since the backside of the sticker attached with the printer is remained exposed in the counter  inviting grumbling and adverse comments from the members of public  and thus becoming very humiliating.

The scanned copies of two such stickers are attached here with for your kind reference.

This union is in receipt of so many requests from our lady comrades for bringing it to the notice of the administration with request for immediate withdrawal of such MPCM stickers carrying the above embarrassing advertisements.

The union does not know whether it is a paid advertisement or not. But whatever it may be, the same is highly unwelcoming and may bring adverse consequences in future since the women employees have every reasonable apprehension of being harassed through verbal/non-verbal remarks at work places due to such unpleasant advertisement.

The backside of MPCM stickers supplied earlier are blank and without any advertisement. At all any advertisement is necessary, it is suggested to advertise our own products and services rather than that of the outsiders. But in anyway, it is quite unnecessary since the backside gum paper is detached and thrown away.

Since we are all equally responsible to ensure that there is no hostile environment towards women at work places and no woman employee should have reasonable grounds to believe that she is disadvantaged in connection with her employment, this union sincerely requests you to take immediate steps to stop supply of such MPCM stickers to post offices.

A line of reply on the action taken is highly solicited.

With regards.

Yours faithfully,
