The prasadam, packed in a carton, would be delivered at your door step

The festival, which is celebrated once
in 12 years, falls on February 22 and Tamil Nadu Postal Circle has tied
up with Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department for the

cost of the prasadam is `150 (inclusive of all charges), which contains
holy water of Mahamaham tank and prasadams of 17 temples in Kumbakonam.
Kumbakonam Head Post Office will dispatch the prasadams from February

Around 36 lakh people are expected to participate in the event
that commences on Saturday, said Thanjavur Collector Dr N Subbaiyan.
Talking
to mediapersons in Thanjavur on Wednesday after releasing the
‘Mahamaham 2016 Malar’ published by Sarasvati Mahal Library, Subbaiyan
said the administration has made all preparations for receiving the
people for the 10-day festival that commences with the ceremonial flag
hoisting on February 13 and culminates with the Theerthavari on February

devotees will be allowed to get down into the tank in the eastern bank.
They would be allowed to walk through the tank in six bays separated by
rope, he said. When they enter the tank, sprinklers will spray water on
them. After crossing the tank the devotees would have to come out of the
tank on the western bank. Though buses and other vehicles would be
stopped on the town’s periphery, mini buses would be operated in two
sectors for elderly, which would take them up to a distance of 800-900 m
