Ref.-    i.          Directorate’s letter No. 27-16/2015-PO, dated 07.01.2016
ii.         Divisional Office letter No. G – 3 / 2016, dated 12.06.2017 and 02.08.2017

Respected Sir,
Inviting a kind reference to Divisional Office letter dated 12.06.2017 revising the normal working hours of all Post Offices under Bhubaneswar Division  uniformly from 9.30 hours to 17.30 hours and instructing all SPMs/Postmasters to reschedule the business hours of their respective post offices, this is to intimate that many post offices have already rescheduled their business hours  as per  instructions contained in Directorate’s letter referred to above read with Clause – 5 of P O Guide Part – I as follows.

For reference and enquiries, sale of postage stamps and stationery
During entire working hours of the office
For booking of registered and insured articles including value payable articles and parcels
For about six to seven hours (On Saturdays usually  five hours stopping at 3 PM)
For issue of Money Orders, Sale and Payment of Postal Orders, Savings Bank and Post Office Certificate transactions and payment of telephone bills etc
For about five hours (On Saturdays usually  three hours stopping at 1 PM)

But we do regret to intimate that while the rescheduled working hours submitted to Divisional office for approval as per the above guidelines by post offices like Ashoknagar MDG were objected, Divisional Office vide its letter dated 02.08.2017 referred to above revised the booking time of the  Speed Post articles up to 17.00 hours, i.e. seven and half an hour out of eight hours which completely violates the established guidelines as above.

Therefore, it is requested kindly to withdraw the order dated 02.08.2017 immediately and restrict the business hours of the post offices strictly adhering to the guidelines as per Clause – 5 of P O Guide Part – I and as instructed in Directorate’s letter referred to above.

Further, it is also requested to kindly cause supply of new display boards to all post offices depicting the revised hours of business in accordance with the above Directorate guidelines.

With regards.
 Yours faithfully,

(D R Mohanty)
Divisional Secretary ( I / C )
