Staff Members of Sahidnagar MDG observed Sadvabana Diwas



Every year, Sadvabana Diwas is celebrated on 20th August nation-wide in commemoration of the birth anniversary of late Prime Minister of India, Shri Rajiv Gandhi.  The main theme of Sadbhavana is to promote good will, national integrity and communal harmony among the people of India irrespective of caste, creed and religion. The theme is promoted by taking “Sadbhavana Day Pledge”.

Since 20th August falls on Monday this year which is a Gazetted Holiday on the occasion of Idu’l Fitre and Central Govt. Offices are closed on 18th being Saturday and 19th being Sunday, Department of Posts has directed all concerned vide D G ( Posts), New Delhi  letter No. 92-37/2012-Coord./O & M, dated 8th August, 2012 to observe Sadvabana Diwas on 17th August, 2012 to promote national integration and communal harmony among people of all religions, languages and regions and to eschew violence .

In obedience to the order, the staff members of Sahidnagar MDg leaded by Shri B Samal, Postmaster pledged on the day as follows:

“I take this solemn pledge that I will work for the emotional oneness and harmony of all the people of India regardless of caste, region, religion or language. I further pledge that I shall resolve all differences among us through dialogue and constitutional means without resorting to violence.”
