Every year, Sadvabana
Diwas is celebrated on 20th August nation-wide in commemoration of
the birth anniversary of late Prime Minister of India, Shri Rajiv Gandhi. The main theme of Sadbhavana is to promote
good will, national integrity and communal harmony among the people of India
irrespective of caste, creed and religion. The theme is promoted by taking
“Sadbhavana Day Pledge”.
Since 20th
August falls on Monday this year which is a Gazetted Holiday on the occasion of
Idu’l Fitre and Central Govt. Offices are closed on 18th being
Saturday and 19th being Sunday, Department of Posts has directed all
concerned vide D G ( Posts), New Delhi letter No. 92-37/2012-Coord./O & M, dated
8th August, 2012 to observe Sadvabana Diwas on 17th
August, 2012 to promote national integration and communal harmony among people
of all religions, languages and regions and to eschew violence .
In
obedience to the order, the staff members of Sahidnagar MDg leaded by Shri B
Samal, Postmaster pledged on the day as follows:
“I take this
solemn pledge that I will work for the emotional oneness and harmony of all the
people of India regardless of caste, region, religion or language. I further
pledge that I shall resolve all differences among us through dialogue and
constitutional means without resorting to violence.”
