India Post Customers’ Meet at Ashoknagar Mukhya Dak Ghar as a part of National Postal Week

Every year India Post celebrates National Postal Week from 9th October, i.e. World Post Day.  The purpose of World Post Day / National Postal Week is to create awareness of the role of the Postal sector in people’s everyday lives and its contribution to the social and economic development. The celebration National Postal Week is aimed at generating a broader awareness of India Post’s role and activities among the public and media on a National scale. This year India Post has planned to observe the National Postal Week as per the following programme.

As a part of this celebration, the staff members of Ahoknagar Mukhya Dak, Bhubaneswar – 751 009 arranged a customers’ meet on 10.10.2013 with participation of its esteemed customers from Ashokanagr, Bapujinagar, Unit – I, Unit – II and Forest Park area. Customers from all walks of life, i.e. businessman, corporate people, doctor, advocate, press/media representatives, teachers and politicians had attended the meeting. Welcoming the customers at the outset, the importance of celebrating World Post Day and National Postal Week was briefed by Sri Bruhaspati Samal, Postmaster, Ashoknagar MDG. Expressing concern over the scams by the so called cheat fund companies, Sri Samal intimated the participating customers on various Post Office Savings Bank Schemes now in operation through India Post with brief features, rate of interest etc. with appeal for more and more investment in India Post which guarantees cent percent security of the investors’ hard earn money.  Addressing the customers, Sri Gadadhar Rath , Business Executive intimated on the premium products  and services like Speed Post, Express parcel Post, Media Post, ePost, Businees Post, Direct Post, Logistic Posts etc. offered by India Post and appealed the customers and media personnel  to spread this message to aware the common people to avail such facilities. Sri Chakrapani Behera, Development Officer (Postal Life Insurance) intimated the customers regarding Postal Life Insurance introduced since 1884  and Rural Postal Life Insurance in operation since 1995. While PLI is open to the employees of Central / State Govt. and its undertakings, Local Bodies, RBI / Nationalized / Scheduled  Commercial banks, deemed Universities/educational institutions etc, Rural Postal Life Insurance is open to the people of rural areas. “Low premium and High Bonus” are the two basic features of both the PLI and RPLI. Sri Behera appealed the members of the public for getting insured with PLI/RPLI to ensure prosperity.
Addressing the Customers’ Meet as Chief Guest, Sri Subash Chandra Barik, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Bhubaneswar Division told that India Post is now rapidly moving towards computerization and modernization introducing new products and services to suit the customers’ needs. Under the concept of Project Arrow, India Post is trying its level best to maintain the delivery standard of all mails ensuring delivery on the day of receipt. Through implementation of I T Modernization Project, 2012, India Post is going to offer Core Banking Solution to its customers.
In the end, an interaction programme was conducted to know the deficiency in service offered by Ashokanagr MDG in particular and India Post in general and the valuable suggestions were recorded by the Postmaster to strengthen the efficiency of the Post Office.
