Black marketeers in Lucknow dupe customers

LUCKNOW: Several customers standing in the queue at Chowk post office were taken for a ride by a man who claimed that the post office had run out of money deposit forms. The black marketeer then sold photocopies of the forms to customers for Rs 5 each.

Gyanesh Rishabh, who stood in the queue outside Chowk post office, said a person arrived at the place and told everyone that forms have finished in the post office. People panicked and started buying photocopies of the form from the man as they did not want to take the risk of not being able to deposit money after spending the entire day standing in queue.

When asked why they did not verify the news from post office officials, Wasif Siddiqui, another costumer, said, "Only five persons at a time were allowed to enter the post office for depositing money. Some persons bought the form and then others dis the same without thinking twice."

Shubham Soni, who was in the queue at a bank in Mahanagar, said that nearby photocopy shops were also selling money deposit forms by charging Rs 5 per copy.
