In order to create awareness about Sukanya Samridhi
Yojana and to enrol more number of girl children in the scheme, the
Postal Department launched a fortnight-long celebrations in the town on
Thursday.
District Collector Neetu Prasad formally
launched the celebrations by lighting a lamp. Speaking on the occasion,
she said about 58,000 beneficiaries were enrolled under the scheme and
called upon the officials to ensure that all the 2.70 lakh girl children
below 10 years of age were covered under the scheme. Parents can
approach the post office along with girl’s photo, Aadhaar card and date
of birth certificate for opening an account before March 31. They can
also avail IT exemption under Section 80 C.
