While
reiterating that employees were part of the society and “felt the pain of
innocent killings and heart rending cries of injured youths”, the Employees
Joint Action Committee (EJAC) – a body of government employees – on Monday
asked the government to “stop harassing the employees otherwise such activities
shall prove counter-productive”.
“In
view of prevailing circumstances, continuous curfew, public protests and
stringent restrictions, the government should stop harassing the employees
otherwise such activities shall prove counter-productive,” said the EJAC
president Ab Qayoom Wani.
In
a statement, he appealed the employees to come forward at this crucial juncture
and help their brethren in these difficult times and should mitigate the
sufferings of the deserved.
Wani
expressed deep and heart felt sympathies and solidarity with the innocent
people who lost their lives and were injured by the use of pellet guns and
lethal weapons by the security forces in the valley.
The
EJAC President said that the killing of more than 55 innocent souls is an
irreparable loss and strong resentment and anguish was expressed on injuring
thousands of people by use of pellet guns and deep sympathy was shown with
hundreds of people who were turned blind by these lethal weapons and it was
urged upon the government to conduct an open court time-bound enquiry into the
matter.
All the human rights organisations and
intellectuals were urged to use their good offices and compel the Central
government to stop the use of pellet guns and other lethal weapons besides the
draconian laws like AFSPA should be withdrawn immediately so that innocent
human lives are saved, he added.
He urged the state govt. to impose
complete ban on the use of Pellet guns on peaceful protestors so that the
innocent lives are not lost and the youth be saved from getting blind and the
innocent killings be stopped forthwith
