New Delhi: Confederation of Central Government Employees and Workers
have written to the Finance Minister to immediately abolish the 60% tax
on EPF withdrawal as proposed in Budget 2016, or face dire consequences.
As per the central government employees, they count their EPF as a
saving for the rainy day, which are utilized for meeting emergency needs
like medical, education, building a house, marriage of daughters etc.
Reiterating that the tax has caused "mental agony" to the employees, the
union added that it hopes, "the central government will not give any
chance of serious agitation on this issue and will not disturb
industrial peace as a whole''.
The employees unions also discounted the recommendations of the 7th Pay
Commission( 7th CPC), and gave a charter of demands to the
government related to salary hikes . They even plan to go on a
nation-wide strike, if their demand are not met.
