ALLAHABAD: The postal
department released a special cover and cancellation on the occasion of
Mauni Amavasya in the view of its uniqueness. Releasing the special
cover, in a programme organised in the premises of Allahabad GPO,
director postal service, Allahabad region, Krishna Kumar Yadav said, "In
India we have a tradition of celebrating every festival and Kumbh is
the extreme manifestation of such celebrations." Postal department
issues special cover envelopes on every major bath of the Kumbh to covey
meaningful message to the people.
Yadav further said that these special covers with cancellations are priced at Rs 25. It is worthwhile to mention here that earlier special covers were also issued on Makar Sankranti and Paush Poornima, which evoked warm response from people. Not only from the country, but people from abroad ordered for these special covers. The director postal service also informed that many philatelists have made advance bookings for the special covers yet to be released. There is enthusiasm among people to send letters in these special covers with postal seal of the issue date. On this occasion Rahmatullah, SSPO; assistant directors R N Yadav and Madhusudan Mishra; T B Singh, senior postmaster, Rajneesh, Nand Kishore and Pankaj Maurya and many philatelists were also present.
