While worldwide
efforts are on move to protect and improve nature and stabilize emission of
greenhouse gases, postal departments from across the globe are adopting best
practices for minimizing their carbon footprint. In this context, the postal
administration of Bhubaneswar in association with All India Postal Employees
Union, Bhubaneswar Division celebrated
the 42nd Anniversary of Earth Day at 11 AM on April
22, 2012 in the campus of Pipli Post Office organizing a
plantation programme by the staff members of rural post offices. In the beginning while Com. Gadadhar Rath, Asst.
Secretary introduced the guests, Com.
Bruhaspati Samal, Secretary All India Postal Employees Union, Group-C,
Bhubaneswar Division briefed the essence
Earth Day celebration and described how the Posts are going green around the
world to save the environment. Dr.
Susmit Pani, Director DDCE, Utkal University addressing the occasion as Chief Speaker
told that the Earth is our mother and it is our primary responsibility to
protect it. Our culture and tradition
prioritize plants in every aspect of our lives. Every citizen should adopt one
plant each as his / her son/daughter. Ms. Adyasha Satpathy, Chief Executive,
“The Dharitri” addressed the Occasion as Chief Guest. Describing nature as the
true savings, she emphasized to refine
our present day activities to save our future generation. Time has come
to act together constructively so that the future generation can get clean
water / air and a green environment. Addressing the gathering, Sri Aditya Kumar
Nayak, SSPOs, Bhubaneswar Division appreciated such noble efforts for the
protection of nature and environment and committed to organize similar programmes in future in
Bhubaneswar Division.
The presence of “The
Dharitri” family along with Sri Tathagat Satpathy, Hon’ble MP( Lok Sabha ) and
Sri Himanshu Hota, Director ( Marketing ), “The Dharitri” added a different colour to this Earth Day
celebration.
The meeting was
presided by Com. Purna Chandra Dash, President, AIPEU, Group-C, Bhubaneswar
Division and vote of thanks was given by
Sri J K Routray, Postmaster, Pipli Post
