As the 42nd Anniversary of Earth Day ( 22nd April, 2012 ) approaches, people around the world including Government and Non-Government Organizations, scientists and environmentalists are taking various steps toward protecting and preserving the environment. While worldwide efforts are on move to protect and improve nature and stabilize emission of greenhouse gases, postal departments from across the globe are adopting best practices for minimizing their carbon footprint. In this blog we have earlier published how the Posts are going green.
In this context, we had given a proposal to the SSPOs, Bhubaneswar for celebration of Earth Day on 22nd April, 2012 which has been acceded to with necessary order for celebrating the same in the campus of Pipli Post Office. The copy of the Divisional Office letter is reproduced below.
While we express our gratitude before the SSPOs, Bhubaneswar Division for this noble initiation, we sincerely request all our Working Committee members to assemble in the campus of Pipli Post Office by 10 AM sharp on 22.04.2012 to make the Earth Day Celebration a grand success.
All other related works in this regard are being finalized in regular consultation with the SSPOs.

It has been decided to celebrate “ Earth Day” on 22nd April, 2012 in the premises of Pipili Post Office -752104. Following activities are to be undertaken to make the occasion a grand success.
1). Staff from rural POs (i.e Postmasters/SPMs and their PAs only) along with all IPOs/ASPOs of this Division will be involved and we will have a discussion /interaction /speech programme about how we can save this earth from further environmental hazards /deterioration .
2). At least 10 numbers of plants to be planted in the premises for which required plants ( to be selected in consultation with appropriate authority), other protection materials ( i.e small bamboo fences), making holes in the premises at appropriate places and also other materials required for plantation may be arranged accordingly
3) The programme is scheduled from 10AM to 01.30 PM and there after lunch for the participants.
All above activities are to be maintained in a smooth way with 100% success by incurring expenditure to the barest minimum. Necessary advance may be taken from SPM ,Pipili and on completion of the celebration, relevant expenditure bills may be sent to this office for necessary sanction. It is moreover a combined effort of the staff for a noble cause of rendering a good message to the society.
