ALLAHABAD: Sale of gold
coins is on at select post offices for the auspicious occasion of
'Chhath' and a total of 24kg gold coins were sold in post offices across
Uttar Pradesh out of which 5 kg gold coins were sold in the Allahabad
Region this month so far.
Director postal services Allahabad Region Krishna Kumar Yadav said 2.5 kg gold coins were sold from Allahabad general post office (GPO) and Allahabad Kutchery Head post office.
On the occasion of 'Chhath' festival, 7.5 per cent discount is being given on purchase of gold coins from November 19 to 22. The discount will be given in post offices of Uttar Pradesh. The facility will also be available in post offices of Allahabad GPO, Kutchery Head Post Office, Handia, Pratapgarh, Jaunpur, Varanasi Varanasi Cantt, Bhadohi, Mirzapur, Shaktinagar, Obra and Ghazipur on the occasion in Allahabad HPO, Allahabad City and Handia post offices of the regionYadav said these coins are 24 karat (99.99%) gold bearing a logo of Department of Posts which is certified by Valcambi Switzerland. These coins are tamper-proof and available in selection post offices of 0.5 gm, 1gm, 5 gm, 8 gm, 10 gm, 20 gm and 50 gm.
