The Competition Commission of India had an open
interactive meeting with Trade Associations representing various sectors
of economy on 17th December, 2012 at New Delhi. The objective of the
meeting was to have two way communications between CCI and the
representatives of leading Trade Associations so as to develop a
congenial atmosphere wherein concerns of both sides are addressed.
Shri Ashok Chawla, Chairperson CCI emphasized the role of Trade Associations in disseminating the need and importance of competition compliance programme through its internalization by enterprises at the highest level. He further stated that time has come that the Trade Associations play a proactive role by regulating the conduct of its constituent members to comply with the competition law. The concerns raised by the Associations were properly addressed. While responding to an observation, Shri M.L.Tayal, Member CCI stated that it is high time that the Trade Associations and the enterprises change their mindset and develop competition culture within their organization so that the economy at large is benefitted in the long run through the enhanced competition in markets.
