The first postal Automated Teller Machine (ATM) in the district has been inaugurated recently in the Arani Head Post office.
L. Chandrasekar, Superintendent of Posts, Tiruvannamalai, told The Hindu that the ATM is the fourth in Chennai City Region of postal department and 444th in the nation. As of now only postal ATMs given anywhere can be used in the ATM.
Only select post offices issue the ATM cards now.
Mervin Alexander, Post Master General, Chennai City Region inaugurated the ATM.
Soon, the second postal ATM of the district would be inaugurated in Tiruvannamalai Head Post Office.
The arrangements are nearing completion, he said.
