Sub : Limited Departmental Competitive Examination for promotion to the cadre of Postmaster Grade-I, 2011 to be held on 12th June, 2011.
Copy of the Directorate letter No. A-34012/2/2011-DE dated 13th April, 2011 on the above noted subject with revised schedule is sent herewith for information, guidance & necessary action.
2. I am directed to call for Applications from willing & eligible candidates on plain paper (as per proforma enclosed) with his/her service details to decide his/her eligibility through their Divisional Office/Unit by 6-5-2011.
3. Divisional Heads should carefully scrutinize all service particulars and submit the proforma report only with due recommendations or otherwise. Divisions under Regional Office may submit their proforma reports through the concerned R.O. only.
4. Eligibility : Postal Assistants working in Post Offices in Pay Band-1 Rs. 5200 to Rs. 20200 + Grade Pay Rs. 2400 with 5 years of regular service in the grade as on 1-1-2011.
5. Vacancies for the Examination will be intimated later on.

Sub : Limited Departmental Competitive Examination for promotion to the cadre of Postmaster Grade-I, 2011 to be held on 12th June, 2011.
Sir/Madam,
I am directed to refer to this office letter No. A-24012/2/2010-DE dated 16th March, 2011, wherein the calendar of PAs/SAs Direct Recruitment & Departmental Examinations for the year 2011 was communicated.
2. It has now been decided to conduct the Postmaster Grade-I Examination- 2011 for the existing vacancies, as per the schedule given below :-

3. The details regarding number of vacancies, cut-off date for eligibility, service/age criteria, categories of staff eligibility to sit for the examination etc. will be decided by the Circle as per the Recruitment Rules.
4. The syllabus for the Postmaster Grade-I Examination is enclosed at Annexure-I and the schedule for conducting the Examination is enclosed at Annexure-II. The Examination will be Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) and with the use of carbonless (duplicate) Optical Mark Reader (OMR) Answer Sheets.
5. It is intimated that as far as possible the Question Papers for the said Examination (other than the General Awareness & Current Affairs and on Technology) will be set within the ambit of the various Postal Manuals which are made available on the Indiapost website/ various instructions on departmental procedures issued by the Department from time to time and approved reference books notified in the enclosed syllabus etc. However, the Examination will be held without the aid of books.
6. The application Form Kit will contain Application OMR Form (Magenta Colour), Instruction Sheet, Acknowledgement Card and envelope for mailing the Application Form to CMC Ltd.
7. It is requested to bring the contents of this letter as well as Annexure-I & II to the notice of all concerned.

(d) Central Civil Services (Classification, Control & Appeal) Rules.
(e) Conduct Rules.
(f) Financial Hand Books.
(ii) Postal Operations
(a) Acts/ Rules/ Guidelines relating to inland & foreign post/ mail operations, money remittance, savings bank schemes & certificates, rural & life insurance. Latest administrative & operational instructions/ guidelines issued by the Department.
PAPER –II
(a) Knowledge of products and services of Department of Posts.
(b) Marketing : Principles of marketing , assessment of related products and services.
(c) General Awareness and Current Affairs including general mental ability test covering logical reasoning (verbal and non-verbal), numerical analysis (arithmetic) and basic mathematical equations and statistical tools like mean, median, mode, graphical representation of data, comprehension and basic language skills.
(d) General principles to technology
(e) Basic technology requirement – computer, server, laptop
(f) Connectivity of computers.
