Sri Ajit Kumar Das, Secretary, Eastern

Speaker expressed concern over irregular conductance of both State level and
District level philatelic exhibitions in Odisha. After a gap of 7 years
BHUPEX-2013 has been arranged. He urged for annual exhibitions regularly for
creating interest amongst the youngsters towards philately. According to him
the percentage of commemorative stamps released on people and places of Odisha
is too low and highly unsatisfactory in comparison to other states in India.
The reason is that the representation of Odisha in National Philatelic Advisory
Board is only one. Thus he requested the postal administration to nominate more
personalities for a huge representation in NPAB. He also requested the postal
authorities to arrange for additional space in both the Philatelic Bureau at
Bhubaneswar and Cuttack for displaying collections of eminent philatelists.
On the occasion, a special cover on
Shanti Stupa, Dhauli was released and the first “My Stamp” was released with
the photograph of Sj. Raghunath Mohapatra.
In the end, a philatelic quiz competition was held amongst the
participating school children.

species available only in Similipal forest reserve and Nandankanan zoo. He advised the
