 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF ODISHA CIRCLE SPORTS BOARD HELD IN THE CONFERENCE ROOM, O/O THE CHIEF POSTMASTER GENERAL, ODISHA CIRCLE ON 14.08.2013 AT 16.00 HRS.

The meeting of Odisha Circle Postal Sports Board was held in the Conference Room, O/o the Chief Postmaster General, Odisha Circle, Bhubaneswar on 14.08.2013 at 16.00 hrs under the Chairmanship of Shri J. Panda, Chief Postmaster General, Odisha Circle, Bhubaneswar-Cum-President, Odisha Circle Postal Sports Board.

3.         The Chief PMG, President OCPSB welcomed the members of the newly constituted Sports Board for the year 2013-15 and after that the members gave their self-introduction.

4.         Results and achievements of the Circle in different Sports and Cultural activities during the Sports Calendar year 2012-13 was presented by DPS (HQ). Chief PMG has expressed his pleasure that our Circle has participated in 12 events out of 14 events and has done well in all the categories. Odisha Circle has also conducted All India Postal Cricket Tournament and Odisha secured 4^th position in the tournament. CPMG also congratulates all the individual players who ranked the position for Odisha Circle.  The Chairperson impressed upon the members that the Circle Level Section for all the sports (except Badminton&Kabaddi) can be held this year.

5.         Shri A. Nayak, Treasurer, OCPSB presented the audited accounts for the year 2012-13 which was approved by the Board. The board decided to disinvest Rs.2 lakhs deposited in TD accounts for recurring expenditure of Sports Activities of the Circle.

a.         The Chairperson has emphasized that we have to raise our funds through voluntarily contribution towards Sports Welfare fund for better functioning of Sports. AD (Sports) will address to all the Divisions to contribute small amount towards Sports Welfare Fund from the officials.

The rate of subscription was decided as under:

i.              GDS – Rs.25/- p.a.

ii.            Gr.C/Postman/Multiskilled employees/ PA/SA – Rs.50/- p.a.

iii.           Gr.A / B – Rs.100/- p.a.

b.         This Circle has not observed the Felicitation Ceremony for the Medal Winners in Sports events this year. The Chief PMG assured that we have to raise our funds this year and we will felicitate medal winners in the next year depending upon the availability of funds.

6.         The Circle Sports Calendar for the year 2013-14 was placed before the Board for discussion. It was discussed in detail and approved with some corrections. The Sports Calendar for year 2013-14 is enclosed as Annexure-I.

a.         The selection for All India team should be held before 2 months, so that journey tickets are available.

b.         All India Postal Basketball Tournament will be held in December 2013 at either Cuttack or Bhubaneswar subject to availability of ground and accommodation.

7.         DPS (HQ) placed before the Chairperson recruitment under Sports quota for outstanding sports persons in PA/SA, Postman/Mailguard, MTS for the vacancy year 2008, 2011, 2012 in various units in Odisha Circle. There are 22 (twenty two) posts vacant in different categories i.e. PA/SA – 09, Postman/Mailguard- 05, MTS (Gr.C) – 08. It was discussed under the Chairmanship and was approved as below by the Board.

            Sports quota vacancies are required to be filled up following Directorate’s guidance in the matter.

            The last recruitment procedure should be completed within a month.

8.         The Chief PMG advised to monitor the players who have participated in all India for better performance in India.

9.         All the Divisions/Units should address to follow the web in www.odishapost.gov.in for latest circulars.

 The meeting ended with vote of thanks by the Secretary, OCPSB to the Officers present in the meeting.
