Enrolment activity under UIDAI Project launched in Bhubaneswar GPO on 19.07.2011 by Sri Bijay Kumar Pattnaik, Hon’ble Chief Secretary, Govt. of Orissa :

The enrolment under UIDAI ( unique Identification Authority of India ) Project in Orissa Postal Circle launched today by Department of Posts at 16 00 hours in Bhubaneswar GPO. Inaugurating the function, Shri Bijay Kumar Pattnaik, IAS, Hon’ble Chief Secretary, Govt. of Orissa said that UID card ( Aadhaar ) which identifies individuals uniquely on the basis of their demographic information and biometrics would give individuals the means to clearly establish their identity to public and private agencies across the country. The Addhaaar can help poor residents easily establish their identity to avail benefits under various welfare schemes.
Presiding over the function, Mrs. Hild Abraham, Chief Postmaster General, Orissa Circle said that in the first phase, 134 important post offices, covering all the 30 revenue districts of Orissa have been identified as enrolment centers for the said project. The enrolment process will be operated by the Enrolment Agencies ( E As) authorized for the purpose. The process involves collection of demographic and biometric data such as finger prints, photograph, iris capture etc. Department of Posts launched the enrolment process today from Bhubaneswar GPO and it will gradually be extended to the identified post offices subsequently. All the residents of the country are requested to avail this opportunity to get an unique 12 digit identification number (  Aadhaar  No. )  free of cost by contacting the nearest indentified post office.
