Com. M Krishnan, our beloved Secretary General, NFPE is now in Bhubaneswar on his way to Rourkela to attend the CWC of AIPEU, P-IV from 27.03.2011 to 28.03.2011. During his stay here in Bhubaneswar today, we got an opportunity to interact with him along with Com. R C Mishra, Circle Secy. on various problems of postal employees in general.
1.    During brief interaction, Com. Krishnan stated that a nationwide agitational programme is going to be finalized shortly by all federations protesting the proposed closure /merger / relocation of 9797 post office all over India. He suggested to take the help of the local MPs / MLAs in this regard. In this context, the Secretary General was briefed on our last Symposium held on 06.03.2011 and our Divisional level activities on this particular issue. He openly admitted for keeping  a close watch on our activities.
2.    He also stressed upon tomorrow’s demonstration programme circulated by the Confederation protesting the arbitrary PFRDA Bill.
3.    He emphasized on bringing some special trade union activities particularly by Orissa Circle in consultation with all the Circle Secretaries for the local unsettled problems.
4.    On cadre restructuring, he said that the Department has taken time to submit a proposal shortly on the issue. However he reiterated that the Staff Side’s demand for Rs.4200/- Grade Pay to LSG is likely to be included in the future proposal.
5.    Delay in imparting training to the newly recruited Postal / Sorting Assistants on the plea of non-receipt of Police Verification Report in Orissa Circle was also discussed.  He  pointed out the case of Kerala Circle where the newly recruited PAs/SAs are already under training. The Circle Secretary told that CPMG, Orissa has written a letter to all District Collectors to direct the police authorities for expediting the verification process.
6.    In spite of Directorate’s direction to complete the DPC for promotion to LSG and HSG-II by 28.02.2011, Orissa Circle is sitting silently till date. The Circle Secretary was reminded on the issue.
7.    The present status of Postmaster Cadre was also discussed. Not only in Orissa Circle, but all over India, the response to the Postmaster Cadre is very poor. The CHQ and NFPE  are now considering it  from a different angle.
