Development and Sale of Language Software :

Shri Sachin Pilot, Minister of State for Communication and Information Technology informed the Rajya Sabha today in written reply to a question that the Department of Information Technology under it’s “Technology Development for Indian Languages (TDIL) Programme” has brought out CDs containing software tools for all the 22 constitutionally recognized Indian languages. These have been released in the public domain. These software and tools are freely-downloaded from the website http://www.ildc.in/
The Minister further said that most of the tasks which can be performed in English computing like text processing, e-mailing, Internet Browsing, spreadsheet, Presentations, database creation and access, web development can also be performed in constitutionally recognized Indian languages. Shri Pilot also informed the House that the total sale of C-DAC’s language sofrware during the last decade was of the value of Rs.32.73 crore.
